Moroccan Purples and Blues at the Finca de la Concepcion

Finca de la Concepcion is one of our favourite venues and we were delighted to plan, coordinate and design Sheena and David´s wedding at this stunning venue.

Our design brief was a Moroccan theme using purples and blues as Sheena had fallen in love with one of our previous events at the Puente Romano hotel.  This colour combination was to also include hints of pinks and golds.

Sheena also wanted to introduce a TV/film theme, as this is David´s profession, and to incorporate wine corks and loved the idea of using wine glasses or cocktail glasses as centrepieces.

The tables looked stunning dressed with purple and Mediterranean blue table covers and the floral centrepieces complimented the colour scheme beautifully.  We used a mixture of tall cylinders filled with lilac water and orchids and Sheena wanted to continue the cocktail/wine theme so half the tables were decorated with martinis filled with a beautiful mix of florals by Loraine.

The centrepieces were surrounded with coloured Moroccan tealights in shades of golds, blues and pinks.

Sheena´s mother created pretty handwritten Moroccan placecards which were set into champagne corks for each place setting and each table was named after a different TV production David was associated with.  Our famous handwritten signs finished off the wedding beautifully included a handwritten menu, a welcome sign, cigar bar menu and a date line.

We loved the aisle decorated with giant gold and purple balloons to add some fun to the decor.

Our thanks to David Toms for sending us these photos to share with you.

Dreamy Teal Wedding Colour Inspirations from Elizabeth Anne Designs

Teal is such an understated, beautiful colour for weddings either toned down with cool mint greens for a sea glass colour palette or combined with rich jewel colours makes for a striking colour combination.

One of my favourite inspiration places is Elizabeth Anne Designs, currently on a teal crush, so had to share some of her beautiful inspiration boards with you as they are just too dreamy not to miss.

Sparkly Autumnal Inspirations

I love October, partly because it is my birthday month and I have a good excuse to eat cakes and also because I take great delight in glitter and October is the month I have a good excuse to start decorating my house for the winter.

I have just had my house repainted this week, my walls and house are all super white, clean and ready for the festive season so I am looking for some inspirations for winter decorations.

With Halloween just around the corner, I am not a huge fan of the ghoulish, macabre look with green hair, blood and gore, but do love a bit of sparkle.

My spooky efforts are pumpkin fairy lights hung over my mirrors along with some cute Halloween snow/gitter shakers and some rather lovely ceramic candle holders in the form of pumpkins and ghosts, from Whittards, which I have had now for years :)

On my quest for pretty yet spooky things, I had to share these gold gilded pumpkins with you, aren´t they just gorgeous, I love them and they would be fabulous for an October wedding.

I would love to take this home to use as a decoration in my own home if I was presented with this at a wedding or party.

To see the DIY tutorial as to how to make these do pop over to Cupcakes and Cashmere.  A new Facebook page I found today and well worth having a look over for some wonderful crafty, creative ideas :)

Watercolour Wedding Inspirations

In 2011 we looked at using watercolours as inspirations for weddings and predicted it as an up and coming trend.

This year we have seen this trend unfold and with so many beautifully designed paper goods from talented artists such as Kristy Rice at Momental Designs we will see a lot more of this beautiful theme for weddings in 2014.

You have to adore the pastel prettiness these water colour inspirations bring to a dreamy wedding colour scheme.

A few weeks ago, for our Alice in Wonderland styled wedding we created table names adorned with an ivory rose and supplied a pot of red paint and a brush so the guests could paint the roses red.

I love the watercolour idea and how it could be taken further with perhaps each guest creating a mini masterpiece for the happy couple to be mounted and displayed later as a complete wedding work of art :)  A more elaborate guest book perhaps!

If you cannot have fun styling your wedding day then I cannot think of many other occasions where you can really go to town creating gorgeous things for a beautiful day shared with your closest family and friends.

So do think about the details and the creativity that will make your wedding unique. If you are lost and do not know where to begin it is always worthwhile hiring a wedding stylist to help you add the creative touches to your wedding day and make sure it is beautifully executed.

Velvet Pumpkins to Welcome October

As we welcome October bringing us fresh, bright autumnal days and an urge to nestle down for the winter with cosy things surrounding us, I had to share these gorgeous velvet pumpkins with you from Plush Pumpkins, are they just divine, I want some!

I love textures, and the joy that something so simple can bring, and how gorgeous would these look as props for an autumnal wedding or party.

I cannot find any excuse to have some, other than just cosseting them in my own home or perhaps to treat myself for my birthday :)

Do have a look at the Plush Pumpkin website, it is beautiful and completely in love with everything on it, they even have acorns, hearts and mushrooms, deep sigh!
