The Blush Crush for 2014 Weddings

The blush crush has steam rollered it´s way into our 2014 weddings on a grand scale so we thought we would share one of our blush inspired boards with you and some styling hints and tips.  It is such a dreamy romantic colour for weddings and we first noticed this colour creeping in at the end of 2011 to our weddings but now the big blush has taken over!

Having had a few design meetings recently it is interesting how this colour is such a delicate one to work with and there are so many variables of this colour from nude, ballet shoe pink, apricot, soft pink, oyster pink, peach, the list goes on but it is a difficult and delicate colour to get right.

Hold a blush fabric against a peach rose and it can instantly make the rose look more yellow in tone.  It is a good idea if you are using this colour for your wedding to check with your florist as to exactly what colours are being used in your bouquet and we recommend working with a pale colour spectrum including ivories, soft peaches, nudes and pinks to make sure it does not clash, keeping everything soft and muted and not using just one colour that could go wrong, either being too pink, peach or yellow.

You have to love the dreaminess of this colour and the blush mixed with soft golds is such an elegant and very fashionable combination for 2014.  We have thankfully sneaked in some gold glitter, sequins, and glassware into our wedding designs which we cannot wait to share with you!

An Elegant Red and Gold Valentine Wedding Inspiration

As we enter the week of romance and Valentine´s Day is fast approaching we thought we would share this gorgeous red and gold Valentine wedding inspiration which had us squeaking with excitement over all the beautiful elegant details.

From the fabulous deep red florals combined with berries, which is one of my favourite looks, paired with the gold toile linens and paper goods this is a beautifully well thought out composition that we adore.

We love the slightly Downton Abbey look to the elegant dresses and this colour scheme would be fabulous for a Spanish or Italian styled wedding using the hot reds with the hugely popular golds which are so in vogue this year.

Last but not least, it is interesting a more structured style wedding cake is featured, I am seeing more of these style cakes now we steer away from the less formal styles of ruffles and ombre.

Black and White with Pink Party Inspiration

As the month of February arrives our thoughts turn to Valentines Day, love, hearts and all things pink, red and more excuses for edible delights and sparkle!

Us girls always seem to find a reason to eat cake and chocolate and February of course is good enough if it is pink or heart shaped!

So to kick start this month we thought we would share this pretty shoot we found on 100 Layer Cakea nice start to a fabulous February.

We know many of our brides will be planning bridal shower parties and perhaps just some girlie get togethers, so black and white mixed with pinks and a hint of gold sparkle is a perfect and easy colour scheme to use.

We love the details, of course, the stunning Marimekko plates, now on my wish list, with the gold cutlery and those gorgeous gold fortune cookies set off the table beautifully.

The guest girly goodie bags are to die for and how fabulous to receive one of these at a bridal shower or girls night complete with hot pink nail polish and cool sunglasses plus these rather pretty confetti pops, what a lovely idea but we are still trying to find the tutorial as as think they would be so cute for our weddings!

I can feel a Valentines girls night coming on just as an excuse to make up goody bags so watch this space!

Lifestyle Boudoir Photography by Aleksandra Olejnik

Over the past five years I have watched the trend of lifestyle photography branching out and covering so many subjects as well as weddings.

We have maternity shoots, new baby shoots, engagement shoots, family portraits and each day I look at many images of beautifully captured once in a lifetime moments taken by some very talented photographers.

About three years ago, I first heard of boudoir shoots and can´t say the idea caught my attention as felt, dare I say, it was slightly tacky but how wrong I was.

It was only last year my view point on this new trend changed as I witnessed some of my brides presenting their new husbands with jaw dropping beautifully produced photographic albums full of creative and intimate images and realised how personal and special these photographs were and the effort that had been made to to create such a meaningful gift.  I loved the excitement between the bride and her bridesmaids as they admired the photos and were so excited about the surprise present about to be presented to the groom.

All these images are feminine, creative and beautifully thought through from the make up and hair to the outfits and having chatted to Aleksandra about producing these intimate photos she said she loves the reaction of the women she photographs as it gives them self confidence and a huge boost.  I love the fact you do not have to have a model figure or be incredibly beautiful, they are all evocative and seductive regardless of shape and size.

This is what lifestyle photography is, it is capturing everyday events and special moments and life in general, so it is a wonderful talent to be able to photograph and document this so well.

Aleksandra is a beautiful person and a wonderful photographer based here in Mijas whom I have had the pleasure of meeting on a few occasions as she has worked on some of our weddings and I personally love her work.  Aleksandra is available for both lifestyle and wedding photography and if you would like to see more do hop over to Aleksandra´s website and I am sure we will be seeing a lot more of her stunning and elegant images this year.
